Overview
As part of a major upgrade to its headquarters, the NSWRFS called for the installation of a digital video wall as a communication and operational information display tool. The wall was to be integral to the new building design and used as the central information point for all workers in the event of an emergency.
NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said the need for effective communication and operational tools was critical. "As an agency we will continue to explore any tool that will assist us in protecting communities from bushfires. As technologies evolve and expand we will endeavour to utilise all options available to us.”
The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSWRFS) is the world’s largest fire service. The orange overalls of its 70,000 volunteer members are recognised across NSW as the service battles each summer’s bushfires.
The responsibilities of the NSWRFS also extend to structural fire fighting in more than 1,200 towns and villages. Its members are called to search and rescue operations; attend road accidents; and assist in storm and flood recovery.
