The UM8500  is a feature rich, messaging platform designed to meet the communications needs of mid to enterprise size organisations by delivering true unified messaging.

Designed to maximise value while controlling operational costs, the UM8500 is a unified messaging platform that offers powerful productivity features such as VideoMail, Find Me/Follow Me and Desktop Call Control.

When used in a Microsoft evnrionment, the UM8500 has an internal dedicated Microsoft Exchange server that delivers superior performance, scalability and reliability while forwarding all voice, video, fax and e-mail messages to Microsoft Outlook®.

VideoMail

The UM8500 includes VideoMail, enabling users to include both dynamic screen captures and video explanations in a single e-mail. An accompanying image from the sender explaining the screen capture is an effective communication tool.

Find Me Follow Me (FMFM)

This feature reduces telephone tag; enabling users to create custom screening rules for incoming phone calls that ensure important calls are forwarded while others are not.

Unified Messaging

Unified Messaging enables all video, voice, e-mail and fax messages to come into one inbox, helping employees be more productive and stay in touch more effectively.

ViewCall Desktop Call Control

The ViewCall feature allows users to screen incoming calls in real-time using a simple, easy-to-use control panel on their desktops. Users simply select from multiple actions or greetings to optimize the caller’s experience, thus deploying more intelligent messaging.

Text-to-Speech Calendaring

Microsoft Exchange Server integration within the UM8500 system enables the unit to read aloud a schedule of activities for any given day up to one year in advance.

Easy Call Return

The UM8500 captures Caller ID information so that dialing return calls is fast and easy.

Scalability

The UM8500 can scale to 648 ports using multiple servers and can serve as many as 225,000 employees in a clustered environment.

Productivity

Features such as VideoMail, Find Me/Follow Me, ViewCall and Unified Messaging help employees stay in touch and get more done in less time.

Investment protection and user training savings

Optional Octel® and Centigram® Telephone-User Interface (TUI) emulation for legacy voice mail platforms provides investment protection and saves on user-training costs.

Seamless integration and cost savings

The UM8500 is a Microsoft® Windows®-based solution that provides Unified Messaging within a Microsoft Exchange environment. It can also seamlessly integrate with Lotus Notes, GroupWise and other email applications that support the IMAP protocol (up to 9 email inboxes).

Multiple levels of redundancy

When configured in a cluster mode, a group of UM8500s function in tandem. In the event of a port or server failure, the other units in the cluster compensate for the failure without any loss of service.

User flexibility

Users may retrieve messages from anywhere, using whichever device is the most convenient—cell phones, PDAs, web browsers or laptop email packages. Using the latest text-to-speech technology, the UM8500 enables users to listen to VideoMail, e-mail and voice mail while away from the office and respond by telephone.
