Quick-capture digital prints

Capture accurate, quality digital fingerprints and palmprints with our LiveScan products. They use the latest biometrics technology to meet your civil and law enforcement identification needs. With LiveScan, you can put fingerprints and palmprints directly into a digital format, without using ink and paper.

How LiveScan works

LiveScan is easy to use. Simply capture the prints and send them electronically in a matter of minutes. This quick capture-to-booking system lets you set data interchanges and business rules, get certifications and adapt to new scanner hardware.

You also receive immediate NFIQ (National Institute of Standards and Technology Fingerprint Image Quality) rating feedback with Rescan Management™ and can switch seamlessly between multiple languages.

NEC’s LiveScan can adapt to legislation changes and law enforcement needs. There is also less chance of redundant data entry, thanks to the full, two-way XML data interchange.

With one click, you can easily upgrade the software with little technical knowledge.

The complete family of LiveScan products includes:

  • LS 200 to process applicants
  • LS 300 to process criminals
  • LS 400 kiosk solution: a one-stop shop for identification and processing
LiveScan is the fast and effective digital way to identify criminals.

Our suite of LiveScan products offer you:

Accuracy

With no ink involved in the booking process, the LiveScan offers a better way to produce high quality fingerprint images. It prevents many of the problems associated with ink prints, such as smudging, out of sequence prints, smearing and over or under-inking - reducing rejection rates.

Speed

Processing speed is a major benefit of LiveScan. Digitising fingerprint images enables them to be transmitted electronically in a matter of seconds. LiveScan’s image capture process features a preview capability, allowing each fingerprint to be displayed in real-time during capture, providing immediate positive identification often while the booking is still in progress.

Interoperability

LiveScan products have evolved from standalone capture devices to sophisticated systems integrated with multiple databases. Images can be captured, transmitted to a central location, and interfaced with an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) for identification processing. When connected with an AFIS, LiveScan can automatically initiate electronic transmissions to state and local AFIS, remote identification bureaus and enforcement agencies, which streamlines the entire criminal checking process.

Ease of use

LiveScan features an intuitive user interface and an easy-to-follow menu that requires minimal training and accelerates user adoption. LiveScan, finger-image capture, printing, storage and transmission are accomplished at one ergonomic workstation, making it very easy to use.

NEC quality and reliability

NEC’s innovative, high performance biometrics solutions have been serving the needs of law enforcement for decades. NEC helped pioneer the automation of fingerprint matching back in the late 1970’s and has remained one of the premier providers of this technology ever since. LiveScan is designed to equip law enforcement agencies with a fast and accurate tool they need to efficiently and effectively identify criminals.

LS 200 Applicant Processing

Leveraging the latest technology, LS 200 offers the following advanced features:

  • FBI–certified to meet the IAFIS Image Quality Specifications (IQS); compatible with IAFIS
  • AccuKeystroke™ descriptor entry function prevents the operator from making an invalid text entry; reducing time, frustration and submission rejections
  • Driver License Reader captures all information about the applicant without the hassle of typing in the information manually, improving data entry accuracy
  • HandGuider™ precisely guides the operator to position the fingerprints accurately and consistently. The operator will be notified immediately when fingerprints are captured out of sequence, allowing for fingerprint image reposition without having to rescan. Automatically and individually contrast each fingerprint image to ensure the best possible images are taken.
  • Personalised AutoCapture allows each operator to set the auto capture timing at their comfort level and optionally eliminates the need for foot switch during capture
  • RapidQC™ visually displays all fingerprint capture performance, allowing every operator to achieve excellent results
  • Quality algorithm detects backend matching system accuracy through complex neural network logic
  • XML-based business logic engine eliminates the need to modify the source code when new rules are applied
  • Rescan Management™ tracks multiple retakes and allows the operator to select prior/better attempts.
