Real-time positioning
Using built-in GPS, each RCU unit can be set up to continuously report precise location data to central management servers, where operators can instantly obtain a graphical view of their fleet and track a particular vehicle’s journey over time.
Wireless connectivity
The RCU boasts inbuilt GSM/GPRS cellular and WiFi radios providing voice and data services to both mobile and remote fixed installations.
Many interfaces
The RCU incorporates an impressive array of interfaces, including several RS232/485 serial ports, CANbus, digital and analog inputs, digital outputs, Ethernet and USB ports, and audio inputs and outputs. Compatibility with existing infrastructure is virtually assured.
Reduced operational costs
The RCU is a monitoring and control device for both fixed and mobile installations. It’s large array of interfaces, solid construction and processing power allow this one device to perform a range of roles that would once have required several different devices.
User Interfaces
The RCU is equipped with an SVGA display driver, and mouse, keyboard and touch-screen inputs. The RCU is ready for a range of interactive services including signage, driver control, and kiosk applications.
Linux Operating Systems
The RCU includes a 32-bit CPU and 1GB (expandable) flash storage pre-loaded with a Linux operating system and API, allowing rapid application software development and deployment using standardized, freely available tools.
Standards Compliance
The RCU is a proven performer, meeting relevant requirements for C-Tick and A-Tick regulatory approval, SAEJ1455 vehicle environmental compliance, and IP55 Ingress Protection. Certification to rail standards is underway.
