Immediate in-field creation of patient records improves efficiency for St John Ambulance (WA)
NEC’s award-winning e-health solution enables ambulance officers to accurately transmit patient records in real-time.
NEC Australia has developed an iPad-based electronic patient care record (ePCR) system that has transformed St John Ambulance WA’s patient record data capture and management processes in Perth.
Ambulance officers are now using the iPad application to minimise the time between capture and transmission of patient information, supported by an efficient, user friendly interface that is easy to use in field conditions. Patient record data can be immediately transmitted to St John Ambulance WA’s central service, ensuring that staff can have a real time view of its patient record database. The queuing system built into the application to support message consistency under constrained network conditions.
The innovative use of the iPad and its integration into wider system processes has delivered improvements to St John Ambulance and made it a leader in health service innovation. St John Ambulance WA is now planning to expand the deployment of the application to the state's regional locations, and adapt the application for other devices.
