 |
Release Date : Friday, 01 Dec 2006
News Source : Lynn Hepple
NEC Corporation today announced that NEC Business Solutions Ltd. will be integrated into NEC Australia Pty. Ltd., effective as of 1 April, 2007.
The integration of NEC’s Australian operations is aimed at increased synergy between the two businesses and enhanced business collaboration in the key areas of IT and networks. NEC Australia will continue to be headquartered in Melbourne with combined annual revenues of more than AU$582 million.
The decision to integrate NEC’s Australian operations was taken in response to the rapid changes occurring in the Australian ICT market, in particular the growth of broadband, IP telephony and wireless communications.
NEC Australia will be able to improve cost structures and increase its effectiveness as a supplier of integrated voice and data solutions toward promotion of long-term growth through joint business opportunities and increased efficiencies.
“The integrating of these NEC operations will strenghten our product and solutions portfolio immensely, putting us in a unique position to offer our diverse customer base integrated end-to-end solutions, reducing integration and installation timeframes considerably,” said Toshiharu Iwasa, Managing Director of NEC Business Solutions and NEC Australia.
The integration will also give NEC Australia a market-leading position in providing total communications solutions through its broadband network, display solutions, broadband access products and IP telephony and wireless capability. It will also allow NEC Australia to actively explore new business opportunities among gated communities and business parks as well as expand the company’s current business in the hospitality, corporate, retail, SME, education, banking and finance, health and government space.
NEC Australia will continue to maintain the largest ICT research and development facility in Australia and will also continue to provide its current customers with integrated solutions in areas such as public and private networks, voice and data technologies, home entertainment and supercomputers.
Mr. Iwasa adds “we are confident that our customers will experience a seamless transition. The move will in fact improve response times, helping our customers maintain their own competitive edge.”
